3 Steps To Worry Less

I think it is a trait of millennials to constantly worry. Worrying is something that pretty much came second nature to me. Even if I couldn’t control it, it didn’t matter, I was going to worry about it to a certain degree. The older I get (30 is sneaking up!) the more I realize why I should worry less. In my constant effort to just make my life easier, I have three tips that seriously help me reduce my worry and stress.

Find the value in everything

I recently had to book a hotel for a bachelorette party, and I found myself seriously worrying about it the hotel was good enough. After I booked the room, I realized that there was no point in worrying about that. This is when I realized that I need to find the value in what I worry about. Unless something is a matter of life or death, there really isn’t a point to it. Trust me, I’m working on it myself, so we can do this together! Worrying really doesn’t solve anything

I know that you’ve heard this a million times, but it is so true! Worrying about something is only going to cause you more stress and anxiety, and it is not going to have any impact on what you’re worried about. The only thing that is going to help is learning to worry less about things that you cannot control. Here is an amazing article from Psychology Today about why worry is a waste of time and energy!

What to really worry less? Eliminate the source.

Yes, you knew this was coming! If there is some external source that is causing you to worry constantly, then I think it is time to evaluate how important that source is. Getting rid of negativity and toxic relationships are a lot easier than you think they are. Unless it is something like an ignorant brother, you really can’t get rid of them, but you can make choices about when you see or hang out with him. Not that either of my step-brothers annoys me. Brandon & Seth, you’re safe! Even if you can’t drop it all at once, you can minimize the interaciton you have with that situation or person.
