Self Care for Bloggers

Although the beginning of the year is often the time for creating new plans and getting ourselves back to work. To be honest, I’ve had quite the issue with getting started this year. Self care is often something bloggers forget about, and I’ve been guilty! I have taken a step back to focus on not only getting my work done but also to make sure I’m taking care of me. PS: You should use these tips!

It’s okay to not want to create

Here I am again talking about how I just haven’t been drawn to Instagram again. I’ve made a few posts sharing why, and I still feel the same way. Although social media is not blogging, it definitely is a big part of marketing your blog. While I have felt like creating some content on the blog, I have been reminding myself that if I am not feeling it, or liking what I make, I don’t need to be doing it. After all, if you are practicing self care, it can reflect on what you are creating.

It’s not all bubble baths

It is so easy to think that self care for bloggers needs to be bubble baths and foot massages, but that is not all it is. Fellow bloggers know the stress we put on ourselves to have everything together, and we really don’t have to. Self care for bloggers can easily be doing batch work, getting help from a friend, or taking the time to strategize or just do some planning!

It may be time to make some changes

There was a point in time where I used to create a new blog post every single day. Yeah. I cut that down to every other day, but I realized that I was sacrificing the content just to keep up with my schedule. Eventually, I decided that three times a week was the perfect amount for me, and that really brought me back to loving my blog.

If you are finding your blog stressful, tiring, or just not representing you, don’t be afraid to make changes to improve the quality of your content. The New Year is all about meeting our goals, but make sure those goals aren’t ruining your quality of life!

Oh Ashlee this post spoke directly to my heart!
I´ve been struggling the last days as well. After feeling really good with my writing and blogging I came to a point where I just didn´t wanted to open my notebook anymore and it felt so wrong in the first moment, cause the weeks before I loved how much I created. My first thought was: no you have to be productive, but than I realized quickly that this is so wrong.
Pauses and breaks are important, such as me-time. Like you said it is okay do not wanting to create.
I mean no one of us wants to kill our creativity by over-producing and stressing so I really appreciate this post, which reminds us all that it´s okay to not create something.

As a self-employee it is so important to make time for self-care. In the past I often felt “lazy” when I was not productive for a day, even when it was weekend day, but now I´m learning to take my time and I guess the better you take care of yourself on the daily basis, the less you need bigger breaks.

Have a great start in the new week gorgeous!

I’m so glad you enjoyed it Tiziana! I always feel like I almost take myself out of the game from wanting to create when I am not in the mood. I hope you have an amazing week girl!

The blogging struggle is REAL, and your tips are so helpful! I really agree that it’s not always “bubble baths,” self care can take a lot of different forms. Great post! <3

It seriously can be! I love that everyone has their own type of self-care that works best for them!

I couldn’t agree more! Self care for me is often a bit of journaling and planning, or a productive afternoon ticking things off the list. THEN I can relax a bit.

Great post! We always put so much pressure on ourselves to create content but it’s okay to want to take a break and sometimes our content gets better for it. It’s so easy to burnout x

Love this, friend! I love the idea of being flexible and it’s okay to change things along the way. It’s all about what’s serving you well, and changing what isn’t.

Love the first point! sometimes I feel so guilty because I don’t want to create and feel pressured to do so. I know anything I produce at those times isn’t going to be very good anyways.
