When it comes to Instagram, it seems like there is a new secret every single week. There are tons of articles that cover everything from captions to how to grow your engagement. Luckily, I’ve been doing some serious internet research, and I’ve found an Instagram Algorithm Secret that I don’t think they want us to know.
It’s all about your followers
Yeah, you heard that correctly. It doesn’t really matter what kind of content you’re putting out. It depends on if the followers you have been enjoying it. Which leads me to wonder why I spent so much time stressing out over Instagram. That’s a different conversation for a different day! According to a study done by TechCrunch, your content isn’t being hidden at all.
What ultimately matters is how often your followers are using the app, what content they are engaging with, and the amount of time they are spending on the app. If you’re posting photos of the beach and getting great interaction, then post a photo of the inside of your closet, you’re less likely to get the same engagement.
With this information, it is important to know who your audience is, what your audience wants, and who you want your audience to be. In the old tradition of “If you build it, they will come”, this remains true with any social media, and especially Instagram.
Engagement is even more important
If you are finding users not seeing your content, it could be the result of no interaction between the two of you. Instagram shows your content higher up in the feeds of people that you interact with. Eventually, your content will show up on someone’s feed if they keep scrolling. A lot of people will say that the Instagram Algorithm Secret is engagement, and that is even truer than ever. The more engagement you get on a post in the few 10 minutes to 1 hour can show Instagram that people are enjoying your content.
I know that for my personal feed, I see content from people that I engage with far more often than those I don’t. Most of those users that are at the top of my feed don’t have huge followings. Additionally, the engagement that you receive on previous posts has a lot to do with your newer post. If Instagram thinks that your post is going to perform well, they are going to push that content. Even if they don’t think that it is going to perform, they won’t be hiding it. Competition is going to automatically have an impact on the reach that you are able to get. The best thing. you can do for the Instagram Algorithm Secret is just to figure out how to compete.
The good news about the Instagram Algorithm Secret
If you’re like me, then you are having problems using the additional features on Instagram. The day that I figure out a strategy that works for me, I’ll 100% let you know! Instagram does not reward or penalize members for their use (or lack thereof) of their additional features. Can using these help boost your profile or engagement?
Some more good news that has occurred from my studies is that it doesn’t matter if you have a business or profile or a personal profile. I have a business profile because I like to have the analytics that it offers, but I don’t use any features other than that. I know there has been a few rumors that personal accounts raise your engagement, but after reading this study, I don’t think that is true. The only thing that we can really do is just be an active user on the app, and stay true to ourselves.
