Are you connecting with your blog audience?

I’m not even going to lie, this used to be something that I struggled with. I did not want to share my really thoughts and ideas because I was afraid people would think they were dumb. This resulted in me not connecting with my blog audience, and my numbers were a straight reflection of that. Over the past 3 1/2 years of blogging, I think I’m finally getting somewhere! Here are some ways to connect with your blog audience.

As always, be authentic

I’m going to go ahead and get this out of the way. Authenticity is something I have talked about on the blog before and it is still important. Actually, it is probably more important than EVER. If you’re really wanting to connect with your blog audience then you have to start by being yourself. You can’t expect someone to connect with you if they don’t know anything about you!

Show that you’re taking their interests into consideration

Now, don’t think you need to only write about what you think people want to read. There is a difference in writing for yourself and writing for others. A great way to figure out what your blog audience wants to read is just to understand your analytics. Use Google Analytics to figure out where users are going, and how long they are staying on a particular topic. You could also head over to Instagram and ask your followers there!

How you speak matters

Most blog readers don’t like a heavy writing style, but some do. I try and keep my posts on the lighter side of things, mainly because the world is hard enough on us! Additionally, you need to make sure that you’re speaking to your audience. Coming from personal experience, no one wants to read a blog post all about you. They are looking for the benefit that they will gain from reading your content.

Engage, Engage, Engage!

This goes for Instagram as well! If someone is taking the time out of their day to look at your content and comment, then you need to make sure that you’re reciprocating the effort. You also should be replying to anyone who comments on your blog post. Not only is it a great way to connect with your blog audience, but you can also connect with other bloggers that way too!

While I’m not very far on my blogging journey yet, these are on point! I really have noticed the engagement is so key. I love receiving comments and shares, and always make sure to reply back. I also like to get out there and try to find new blogs (or just new to me!) an comment or share their posts, and connect with other bloggers.

I really do not understand bloggers who never reply to comments on their Instagram! Like, why? You’re missing out on making new friends and creating cool conversations. Great post here dear! xx

Girl, same! It takes seriously no time to reply. It surprises me how many don’t do it!

I loved this post. Being real and sometimes maybe out of the common group and speak your voice is the way to attract similar people. To make them stick next to you (:
