Carry on essentials for long haul flights

I’m really happy to hear that some of you are enjoying the travel series so far, and I am happy to say that I am happily enjoying my vacation! When it comes to traveling, I have a pretty standard list of carry on essentials that I HAVE to have with me. Not only do they make the actual travel experience better, but they also prepare me to arrive as my best self!

Carry on essential basics

This is going to sound lame, but you need to make sure that you have all of your documents! I’ve definitely been that person who arrived at the airport without their passport for an international flight. Ever since then, I gather everything that I could possibly need from hotel confirmations to taxi and even copies of my flight details and I’ve even done passport and ID photos too! I keep everything in an envelope inside my carry on so I can easily grab it if I need to.

I’ve never been on an international flight where they don’t offer you some basic carry on essentials. This typically includes an eye mask, toothbrush, and toothpaste. Depending on where you’re sitting in the plane, this little pack could be more extravagant. Personally, I always like to take my own toothbrush and toothpaste in my carry on bag just in case I don’t receive one. No one wants bad breath! Same with headphones, I always make sure to have two sets. One for my phone (thanks Apple!) and then a set for my Macbook as well.

If you’re planning on sleeping, then make sure you take the #1 carry on essential: EARPLUGS! I don’t know about you, but I’m ALWAYS cold on a flight, no matter how long it is! I love bringing a scarf or wearing a long trench that can double as a blanket. Include a pair of cozy socks, and you are set!

Beauty carry on essentials

I recently wrote a post all about what I keep in my travel makeup bag and my travel beauty bag. This is basically a scaled down version of that to keep myself looking and feeling as fresh as possible. I always bring the Yes To Cucumbers Facial Towelettes to remove my makeup, and to use before we land to take off any dirt or oil that has accumulated on my skin. If you thought that you were going to get out of this without me talking about Summer Friday’s Jet Lag Mask, then you’re wrong! I love applying it to keep my skin moisturized and hydrated for the duration of the flight. Plus, it gives you a gorgeous glow!

I also love to keep a perfume of sorts in my bag. I’m a huge fan of bergamot, and I find it to be one of my favorite options to travel with. Lastly, I keep an eye cream in my carry on essential bag as well! This is The Inkey List Caffeine Serum which is still new in my routine, but I’ve been enjoying it so far!
