Building Our House: An Update!

It seems like it has been forever since I announced that we are building a house, right? The process has been much slower than we initially thought, but we are making some progress, and I’m getting even more excited! One thing we didn’t expect when it came to building our house is the amount of options we would have for literally everything!

Picking out the fixtures for the bathroom is complete, appliances are selected, and we even have doors, windows, and all of the boring stuff out of the way. Personally, I can’t wait to start picking out tiles and lighting fixtures, I think that is going to really bring the house together.

What’s next?

They have removed more of the tree line in the front which has just slightly reduced the privacy that it once had. While you can now see it from the main road, there is still plenty of seclusion for us. The framers were able to completely frame the house out in less than one week, and when we were taking these photos, the shingles were being put on!

The windows had arrived, and those are being put in later this week. We also met with the cabinet maker and plumber to get all of the cabinets and vanities figured out as well!

We have also begun the process of picking out furniture that we might want for the house, as well as figuring out where our existing furniture will go! If you and your partner have built a house, we would love to know what you thought the most difficult part of it was!

A few things I’m loving for the new house

  • Any of these gorgeous pillows from Anthropologie. Love the mix of textures and natural colors!
  • This flatware set, I never knew I would be so excited by cutlery!
  • This chandelier is really close to what we are actually getting from a local lighting gallery, and I’m obsessed!
  • I don’t think I’ve ever loved a patio set more than this one from Target, it really fits in with the vibe I have for the house!

It has been such an exciting process so far! It is scary to not be 100% sure how everything will look together though. Hopefully we made good choices!

You must be very excited to see how your house would look at the end. Building a house is a painstaking process but it’s all worth it. The most exciting part for me is furnishing, shopping for furniture, appliances and those little cute things that will put everything together.

It’s great it’s all coming together for you! When we built our house it all seemed to come together so quickly! I do wish we’d picked a different carpet now after living here a few months, but otherwise I’m so happy with everything we chose!

Hope that you are having a great week 🙂 I’ve got a scarf giveaway on my blog right now 🙂
