4 Blog Investments That You Need To Make

The word investment can be scary. I have a background in finance, and I remember wanting to hide at the mention of it. The word alone could cause you to think that it automatically involves a lot of money. Luckily for you, that is not the case today! If you’re ready to grow your blog, then there are a few blog investments that can really make a huge difference.

Domain & Hosting

If you’re starting a blog this year or may have a free blog, then this is the year to invest in your own domain name, and a hosting plan. While this is the least fun out of my blog investments, it is the most important! This allows you to own your blog. Not only does this protect your content, but you can customize every detail of a self-hosted blog. I wrote an entire post about starting a blog, and you should check that out!

Having your own hosting plan and domain name also mean that you can create a brand around yourself. That means monetization! If you’re looking to turn your blog into a business, this is the first step that you need to take! I got my domain from Namecheap for around $8 bucks, and *Siteground is the best hosting site out there!

Get Your Own Theme

The beautiful thing about the internet is that you don’t have to be a tech genius. I know that I am not a web developer by any means! Once you have a self-hosted blog, you can start looking at themes that make your blog standout! You can find these in pretty much any price range, and if you’re ready to get serious, you can even hire a designer to get it perfect.

Over the years, I have tried quite a few developers, and I’ve been pleased with pretty much all of them. I am currently using Hello You Designs. I love the details of the designs, and how customizable everything is. My most used themes have been from Pipdig, and I cannot recommend them enough either. The themes are beautiful, and the customer service is off the charts! As far as blog investments go, a theme is high on my list. It gives a more professional feel, and definitely won’t break the bank!

One of the best blog investments? Tailwind

I know, you’re probably so sick of me talking about *Tailwind, and I promise is the last I’ll mention of it….for a little while at least! I recently wrote an entire post about Tailwind, so if you’re looking for details, head over here! Tailwind automates your Pinterest profile and helps to get your content out to higher audiences than what you may be able to on your own.

Pinterest is an amazing tool for bloggers, and ever since I began using *Tailwind, I cannot even begin to describe the impact it has had on my blog traffic. While there is a free option to Tailwind, paying for a monthly membership is one of the smartest blog investments I’ve made over the past few years.

INVEST IN YOURSELF

Yes, all CAPS was necessary! The best blogging tool that you have in your possession is you! Even if you think that you have areas to work on, you still made the jump, and you’re already a lot further than most people! When it comes to choosing blog investments, it doesn’t have to be for your blog. By investing in yourself, you’re enhancing you own skills. These skills can be used on projects that aren’t blog related.

Something that I chose to do for myself was to begin the journey of getting my MBA, and it has been one of the best moves I’ve made in a while. If school isn’t your route, then check out some free courses online! Hubspot has some free courses that are amazing and great quality. Don’t forget about the importance of courses. Similar to themes, this can range in prices from free to hundreds of dollars. When you take courses, make sure to read the reviews, and choose the best one for you!
